Returning to the Edinburgh Fringe, Jamie Finn discusses his upcoming show, Nobody’s Talking About Jamie (Taylor’s Version) and Vitamin C tablets.
What is the elevator pitch for your show?
It’s the story of the romance and heartbreak of platonic love, set on a spin bike.
What inspired your show and your title?
The West End show inspired it last year – but this year we have ‘Taylor’s Version,’ inspired by the re-releasing of Taylor’s studio albums.
What is your song writing process like?
Rather quick to be honest – as in when the idea comes it’s usually written within a week. The long hard part is waiting for inspiration.
If it’s not too much of a spoiler, what is your favourite song that you’ve written for this hour?
The opening song. It gives a brief backstory of the show with a Taylor Swift twist.
What is something that you learned from your previous experience at the Fringe that you’ll take onboard this year?
Vitman C tablets.
What are you looking forward to at the Edinburgh Fringe?
Vitamin C tablets.
What advice would you give to someone one making their debut?
Give it your all – and enjoy it. And Vitamin C tablets.
Apart from your own hour, what other shows at the Fringe would you
recommend?
Alexandra Haddow is doing her second hour this year called Third Party. If it’s anything like her debut it’s going be amazing. Richard Spalding is taking his debut hour up – he’s such a fantastic comedian and gifted writer – it’s actually quite rude of him.
In Shakespeare, the role of the fool and the king are very distinct, with the idea that a fool can’t be a king and a king can’t be a fool. How do you think this applies to the modern context?
I think we have proven Will to be incorrect on this one – it seems the only criteria to being king (PM, President) is to be the biggest fool going. I’m writing this as the Tory MPs have been suspended for placing bets on when the Genny Lec was going to happen – FOOLS. It’s honestly just mind blowing how our leaders behave.
